The little girl in the hospital bed is an 11 year old named Darien. Holding her hand is her little sister, Avery. Her mom has worked with my dad for at least 20 years now. I’ve known her since she was born. This little girl has been involved in so much. Basketball, traveling, plays, clubs, girlscouts. On July 29th, Darien had basketball practice, afterward she was getting in the tub and mentioned to her mom that her heart was still beating fast from practice. She could literally see her heart beating out of her chest. They went from After Hours Pediatrics to Brandon Regional Hopsital to St. Joes to at All Childrens. She has been diagnosed with Parvovirus and Myocarditis. She has had 4 open heart surgeries and 1 procedure to install an Impella device which did not work. She now has a LVAD which is basically doing the work of her heart for her so hopefully her heart can rest and heal. If her heart cannot heal on its own, she will have to have a heart transplant, which cannot be done until the virus has left her body. There are some good days, and there are some really, really bad days.
I’m begging everyone to keep this girl in your prays.
